Enhancing SEO with Structured Data and Robots.txt Optimization

Improving a website's visibility to search engines often involves a combination of structured data implementation and proper handling of robots.txt. Implementing JSON-LD Structured Data

Structured data helps search engines understand the content on a webpage, enabling richer search results. JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is a popular format for implementing structured data. The landing page was enhanced with Organization and WebSite schemas, providing information about the organization and the website itself. Blog posts were enriched with BlogPosting and BreadcrumbList schemas, offering details about the blog post and its position within the site's hierarchy. Additionally, Twitter Cards and canonical URLs were added to improve social media sharing and prevent duplicate content issues.

Robots.txt Optimization

This meant that every request for robots.txt would hit the application, adding unnecessary overhead. To optimize this, a new artisan command, seo:generate-robots, was created. This command generates a static robots.txt file and places it in the appropriate directory. Now, Nginx can directly serve the static file without involving Laravel, improving performance and reducing server load.
